Opening of the new Tech-centre

motan-colortronic gmbh has opened its new Tech-centre in Friedrichsdorf with an open house day. With the motto “materials management in practise “, participants used the opportunity to learn about in-depth theoretical and practical topics regarding materials management. Along with fundamental information, visitors received an insight into the technical possibilities of the new Tech-centre through numerous live demonstrations.

Storage, drying, conveying, dosing and mixing – material handling in plastics processing is made up of many different processes. Because many applications in the plastics industry are becoming ever more complex, and often go hand in hand with individual materials and small batch sizes, extending the Tech-centre was of great importance for motan-colortronic.

The company has invested ca. one million euros in setting-up and extending the Tech-centre. With floor space of roughly 800 m2, nearly the entire product spectrum is available to conduct tests and experiments for processing processes such as injection moulding, blow moulding, extrusion and compounding. This includes systems and units for material handling of the most commonly available bulk materials on the market.

For extensive conveying tests, the equivalent of 366m conveying distance has been installed. Conveying lines with 45, 50, 65 and 76mm standard diameters are available. Various units and machines in the Tech-centre are networked and can be controlled via a central control with integrated visualisation. Along with tests for basic principles, from which the results help develop new periphery units, customer specific tests and experiments are conducted daily in Friedrichsdorf, often with extremely difficult materials. The customer profits directly from the results, as the most suitable solution is then implemented for the respective application.

Along with live performances during the event, there was a surprise for the young football players of the F2-youth of the FSV Friedrichsdorf 1953 e.V. From now on, motan-colortronic will sponsor the young talents and supply their football shirts.

mo explains: " Injection molding produces sprues that can immediately be turned into regrind and reused. This makes sense because it saves money and protects the environment. If the initial material needs to be dried it can save even more money as regrind does not usually need to be dried if it is being reused immediately.
